FELLOWSHIP staff

Here's a few short bio's of our staff.

Mike Vankampen

Lead Pastor

I love leading a church because I not only get to talk to people about God, but I get to equip and encourage others as they lead their own ministries. It’s exciting to formulate a God-inspired plan and then see that plan come together through an awesome group of people, and I can’t imagine doing anything else with my life!

When I’m not at the church, I enjoy riding motorcycles, playing golf and other sports, exercise, and just hanging out with my wife and kids.

Favorite Movie
I can’t choose just one, but the list includes “The Shawshank Redemption”, “Castaway”, “Saving Private Ryan”, “Seven Pounds”, and when I just need a good chuckle – “Dumb and Dumber”

Favorite Ice Cream

Black Cherry, but it’s also hard to beat a good old bowl of vanilla with gobs of chocolate syrup!

Favorite Season

Summer, because it’s too hard playing golf and riding the motorcycle in the winter!

Nick Armstrong

youth ministries

Having the opportunity to lead a youth ministry program towards following Christ is an honor. Ministering to youth and young adults allows me to walk along side others and help them to take the next right step no matter how small. Many life shaping decisions are made while in our youth and on our way to adulthood. Our goal is to equip people with the tools to make good choices for themselves and develop a heart towards serving others. My mission is to walk along side students so we both can better follow Christ every step of our lives.

Favorite food:

The short easy answer is cow. To expand on it a little I am a fan of taco night, bear burgers from a place up north, and ugly steaks from a town in Illinois.

Favorite Movies:

Tombstone, The Shawshank Redemption, and Twelve Angry Men.

What do you do in your spare time?

We enjoy camping, playing on the sand dunes, and legos with my kids.

Valerie Bertrand
Worship & discipleship

I enjoy getting to cultivate community and worship! This job lets me develop people, lead people closer to Christ, and play music - which is a dream come true! My whole life has been leading up to this and we couldn't be happier with where God has brought our little family.

Favorite food - Tacos!!! Tex-Mex in Houston and Hatch Green Chili from Colorado
have forever changed my taste buds!

Favorite leisure activity - Anything outside! Boating, Biking, Hiking, Skiing, or just sitting on the patio/beach watching the kids play. I also love a good mystery novel.

Favorite ice creams - Mackinac Island Fudge and Chocolate Marshmallow

Favorite dessert - White Chocolate Raspberry Truffle Cheesecake or Lemon Raspberry Cream Cheesecake... If it's cheesecake though, I'm probably going to like it.

Nancy Hamlin
Children's Ministries

Becoming the part time Director of Children’s ministry at Fellowship church is a great

honor. I am working alongside many people who share my passion for Christ, children and the

community. I love being an advocate for children, and the adults helping them on their life

journey. My mission is to help our future leaders know and follow Christ.

In addition to my faith, my family is my greatest joy. I have a wonderful, supportive

husband who walks with me on this new path. I have four amazing children who make me proud

and honored to be their mother. The newest blessing in my life is my grandson. My life has been

forever changed with a grandchild.

Favorite food : Chocolate (yes it counts)

I love being outdoors, and my house shows it. Gardening, yard work, snowmen and

anything on the water is enjoyable to me. Just add kids and I am in my glory.

Gina Armstrong

office manager

I love this job because it offers me the opportunity to assist others. I am able to be a friendly face in the office, as well as a friendly voice on the telephone and my greatest hope is that this reflects Christ's love to others. I love being able to organize data to assist my co-workers and their various ministries.

When off work during the warmer months, I love to go camping with family. It doesn't get much better than sitting around a campfire, making s'mores and talking and laughing or playing cards. I also love to work on projects around the house and spending time with family and friends, regardless of the season.

Favorite Food: Mexican

Favorite Ice Cream: Moose Tracks

Favorite Season: Late Spring....warm enough to be outside doing things but not yet so hot. May to early June is probably my favorite time of year. Probably comes from when I was little, that was definitely when we could shed the heavier shoes/boots and wear our brand new Red Ball Jets tennis shoes!

Megan Hanks

Administrative  assistant

After rejoining Fellowship's staff after a 14 year hiatus, I am looking forward to supporting and assisting leadership in any way that I can. I want to be a blessing not only to staff, but to members and visitors alike at this church that I call home. My goal is to honor God in the work that I do, no matter the size of the job!

My favorite leisure activities are hanging out at the barn with my girls and our horses and spending time at my parents' beach on Wolf Lake in the summer.

My favorite movies are based on real-life...especially sports or war stories about overcoming adversity...like Miracle, the movie about the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team, or Band of Brothers.

My favorite dessert is probably brownies, but I'll eat pretty much anything with sugar!
