FELLOWSHIP staff

Here's a few short bio's of our program staff.

Mike Vankampen

Lead Pastor

I love leading a church because I not only get to talk to people about God, but I get to equip and encourage others as they lead their own ministries. It’s exciting to formulate a God-inspired plan and then see that plan come together through an awesome group of people, and I can’t imagine doing anything else with my life!

When I’m not at the church, I enjoy riding motorcycles, playing golf and other sports, exercise, and just hanging out with my wife and kids.

Favorite Movie
I can’t choose just one, but the list includes “The Shawshank Redemption”, “Castaway”, “Saving Private Ryan”, “Seven Pounds”, and when I just need a good chuckle – “Dumb and Dumber”

Favorite Ice Cream

Black Cherry, but it’s also hard to beat a good old bowl of vanilla with gobs of chocolate syrup!

Favorite Season

Summer, because it’s too hard playing golf and riding the motorcycle in the winter!

Nick Armstrong

minister of youth and young life leader

Having the opportunity to lead a youth ministry program towards following Christ is an honor. Ministering to youth and young adults allows me to walk along side others and help them to take the next right step no matter how small. Many life shaping decisions are made while in our youth and on our way to adulthood. Our goal is to equip people with the tools to make good choices for themselves and develop a heart towards serving others. My mission is to walk along side students so we both can better follow Christ every step of our lives.

Favorite food:

The short easy answer is cow. To expand on it a little I am a fan of taco night, bear burgers from a place up north, and ugly steaks from a town in Illinois.

Favorite Movies:

Tombstone, The Shawshank Redemption, and Twelve Angry Men.

What do you do in your spare time?

We enjoy camping, playing on the sand dunes, and legos with my kids.

laurie postema

minister of children and families

Being present in the life of a child as they learn about God and how He loves them, is pure delight for me. I also thoroughly enjoy leading alongside like-hearted grownups - serving together, growing together and connecting with others in our community.

What do you do with your time away from FRC?

Okay...I gotta be real about this one. I'm parenting 4 kids. What is free time? Sometimes I can eek out a spare moment or two early in the morning or late at night. In precious spare moments, I enjoy meaningful time and conversations with my kids and husband, reading, the treadmill, coaching soccer, 4H, the beach, kayaking (fishing while kayaking is even better) or enjoying music/singing.

Favorite Movie

I love to go to the movies - mostly for the popcorn and White Cheddar seasoning - and can easily be talked into going to one. As to a favorite...impossible to choose. You'd need to ask specifically by category or type. Recently...Frozen because I can sing along.

Favorite Music

My favorite types of music are gospel choir, country and classic rock. I know...strange grouping. I love gospel choir for the passion it communicates so distinctively. I love country because it most closely reflects our lifestyle and my appreciation for classic rock comes from my father.

Favorite Starbucks Drink

Can't bring myself to pay what a cup of coffee at Starbucks costs, but don't take my one morning cup of java away. This is my "me time" to think about who and what's important for the day. Maxwell House Morning Blend with good old-fashioned add-ins of milk and sugar work just fine for me.

married for 17 years. They currently live in Grand Haven, and Lorenzo has

led worship in Grand Haven at First Presbyterian Church and Resurrection Life Church. In addition to playing piano and keyboard, he also plays violin, viola, and cello.

Favorite season – Summer, “I love to travel!”

Favorite dessert –strawberry rhubarb pie with vanilla bean ice cream

Favorite movie – “I love movies in general, so I can’t pick just one, but I love any high-octane action movie or fantasy folklore sci-fi flick with an epic plot!”

Gina Armstrong

office manager

I love this job because it offers me the opportunity to assist others. I am able to be a friendly face in the office, as well as a friendly voice on the telephone and my greatest hope is that this reflects Christ's love to others. I love being able to organize data to assist my co-workers and their various ministries.

When off work during the warmer months, I love to go camping with family. It doesn't get much better than sitting around a campfire, making s'mores and talking and laughing or playing cards. I also love to work on projects around the house and spending time with family and friends, regardless of the season.

Favorite Food: Mexican

Favorite Ice Cream: Moose Tracks

Favorite Season: Late Spring....warm enough to be outside doing things but not yet so hot. May to early June is probably my favorite time of year. Probably comes from when I was little, that was definitely when we could shed the heavier shoes/boots and wear our brand new Red Ball Jets tennis shoes!
